The experience of writing a research paper

1. What part of the research project did you find most interesting?

For me the interesting part was finding information from diffrent books and going to the library and making power point for my presentation I really enjoy this parts.
2. What part of the research project did you find most challenging?
After I found my information I spend hours and hours to write my research paper in my own words sometimes it was very difficult because I understand the point but I didn’t now how to write in my own words but I love it.
3. Why did you pick the topic?

I choose Water crisis in Canada. I knew a lot of people are very surprise when I explain there is a water crisis in Canada. I like to show people something unusual something that not all people are familiar with that. When I explain to my friends and to my classmate that there is a water crisis is Canada nobody believe me, but I think I change their opinion .I hope.
4. What did you learn about your topic during the research process?

The topic Water crisis in Canada was something very new for me .I never read articles or books about it. I learn more about different part of Canada. For me was interesting to know about North America Free Trade Agreement “NAFTA” between Canada and United States that Canada must give freshwater to United States. I learn that drinking tap water is much better than drinking bottled water because bottled water is tested on average only once every three years but cities tap water is tested always during and after treatment.

5. How do you think writing a paper is different in English from writing one in your first language?

Oh my god is totally different. When I want to write paper in English is more difficult because first I have to understand what I want to talk than I start to write. I have to spend hours and hours to understand information sometimes I have to read two or tree times to get an information than I have to write in my own words but in my language is more easy I know how to find information and I can spend less time.

6. Are you satisfied with the paper you have handed in?

Yes, I am satisfied with my research paper. I work a lot for this research paper first of all I didn’t have a lot of knowledge about this topic before but I try to do my best. It was new topic for me .First week each day I spend 6 to 7 hours to work on it. I remember I slept every night at 2 o’clock in the morning.

7. What would you do differently the next time you do research and write a paper?
s
First, I change my topic two times. I think next time I will choose very fast my topic because I will have more time to research about my paper. Also, I will read more book and articles about my topic research.

8. How will you change the organization of the information in your paper for your oral presentation?

I tried to explain very clear my point some part I change a word that I knew it is difficult to understand. I used power point and picture because I think with picture my friends can understand better my point.

9. What is important to think about in preparing and delivering a successful oral presentation?

I think the best way is practice. I practice a lot I can say about 10 times I read my notes. We have to make our presentation interesting otherwise it will be very difficult for people who listen to us. Don’t forget beside a presentation we want to teach other people something new.

10. Describe any experience you have had in giving an oral presentation.

I always worried about my presentation. I remember last year I had a final project in Lassalle College in front of 50 peoples our prance and our teachers and I had to talk 5 minutes French and 20 minutes English. I was so worried but I practice a lot and I did very good job.

The population in the world

#1-Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the future in terms of in terms of population? Explain.

I am more optimistic about the future in terms of population. Nowadays, many young people are more educated than before. When we ask each other how many children we want in future the answer is one or two. Also, raising children is expensive and is not easy for many people to support 4 to 5 children. I think in future population problem is less than now. “I wish”.

#2 What do you think should be down in the industrial world in terms of population? What should be done in the emerging nations?

In the industrial world in terms of population, the government of each country must educate families. Families need to have family planning which controls the population. Also, government must improve economic system that people can have better life.

Happiness

1- Do you think these data collection tools are valid scientific tools? Why or why not?

I don’t think these data collection are 100% valid, because with some question we can not decide that we are happy or not. The results can be different at a different time; it will depend on the time of our life we are facing. This is just a computer program it’s not natural way to measure our happiness. Also, with this tool we can not judge about bigger population. For example, we can not say Chinese are happier than Canadian.
2-Do you think your results on the on-line survey would be different if you did it at another time or day? Why or why not?
No, because our happiness level can be change in any minutes. Also, I don’t believe this computer programs result. Some people may not pay attention to the following ones and will just respond as it goes.
3- which of the two tools is better to do with a large group of people (eg. university students, people living in cities versus rural locations, etc.) to discover patterns of happiness in a given population? Why do you think one is better than the other?
I don’t think any of them will be the best tool to do with a large group of people to discover patterns of happiness. Could be a mixture of both, the happy-face questionnaire and the on-line questionnaire, but I think none of them will perfectly suit. I think both are lacking something.

Is the difference between males and females communication patterns similar to the difference between people from different cultures? Why or why not? (

On my opinion, yes, the difference between males and females communicating is similar to the difference between people from two different cultures. For example, when men and woman are getting together to know each other, there could be a lot of misunderstandings. It is the same when you go in to the country with a different culture .However, after some times, you may find how communicate with people from that particular culture. It is the same in a couple, you can know each other and how to communicate.

We can not say cross-cultural marriages are impossible, but we know that is not easy. Some times, it is very difficult to explain what you are believed. Also, it is not easy to understand other culture but in same time it is very exciting experience to married with some one in different culture.

Question: In your opinion, do species change over time in order to adapt to their environment? Did we evolve from apes?

According to the studies and reading that we had until now, I really interested about this topic. In before, I never know that the species change over the time in order to adapt to their environment and can evolve from ape but now those information help me to think about it again and believe it can be possible that species change in order to adapt to their environment.
